On 11 November 2021, Veena will speak at the 2021 Sustainability Awards and Digital Summit conference talking about circular economy concepts including using waste and recycling waste as built environment products and her UNSW SMaRT Centre innovations.
And SMaRT is shortlisted for an award with partner Mirvac for their Pavilions project where SMaRT's various MICROfactorie Green Ceramics products were used in a fit-out of a display apartment.
Veena will join a panel of experts on the night talking about circular economy strategies to reduce the total resources extracted from the environment in order to reduce the waste that human activities generate in pursuit of modern design.
Event organisers say circular economy concepts – including using waste and recycling waste products as a building material – are well suited to the building and construction sector in our cities.
"Therefore, this panel takes a deep dive into enhancing material lifespans and multiple benefits that can be extended beyond the building project itself and into its internal components while also contributing to economic savings and sustainable design."
