SMaRT inspires kids at museum display

Team members of the UNSW SMaRT Centre inspired kids about recycling and sustainability with a display at the Australian Museum for National Science Week.

SMaRT and its commercial partner Renew IT shared details about their new Plastic MICROfactorie that recovers and reforms waste plastic from e-waste into filament for 3D printing, among other things.

The team was helping the next generation get hands on with the latest recycling technologies and understand how waste can be converted into circular materials and products.

The display at the museum was part of the Sydney Science Trail, a fun science adventure which includes the Science Expo, where students will have their questions answered by experts from over 20 research organisations and universities.

Students wandered through our Science Expo stalls and learned about citizen science, frogs, fossils, medical research and more – they even asked scientists about their career paths.
