SMaRT Centre creates sustainable art work for charity auction

The UNSW SMaRT Centre has created and developed a unique piece of artwork for a charity auction.

The artwork, entitled ‘Pieces of Sustainability’, is made from 100% waste materials using some of SMaRT's various recycling capabilities.

It is being auctioned by National Youth Science Forum, which SMaRT and its Director, Prof Veena, have long supported by donating time and resources to help young students interested in STEM.

Bid for the item now - auction ends 19 Aug 9.30pm

The item, a compendium of recycled materials on canvas, is a depiction of a puzzle, highlighting that many pieces fit together to create a planet-friendly future.

The artwork raises awareness of the value in these materials, requiring both creativity and science to find innovative solutions to reuse them.

Materials include expired, unused medical gowns, school uniforms, denim clothing and more, which have been laser cut and assembled by hand at the UNSW SMaRT Centre.
