On 28 April 2022, Prof Veena will join a high-level panel discussion on waste plastic recycling and innovations in steel making.
The Plastic Recycling Conference Asia (PRCA) 2.0 Conference is a leading two-day conference hosted out of India to promote best practice industry plastics recycling innovations.
Veena will share insights from the UNSW SMaRT Centre's Green SteelR Polymer Injection TechnologyR that uses waste rubber tyres as a replacement for coke and coal in electric arc furnaces and give an update on how the latest research uses spent coffee grounds and waste plastics to also release hydrogen for a more energy efficient steel making process.
This event follows a recent event at UNSW Sydney where the Indian and Australian trade ministers, Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister Dan Tehan, both publicly acknowledged SMaRT Centre's various recycling innovations and spoke to Veena about these.
