Narjes Gorjizadeh has a PhD in Computational Materials Science from Tohoku University. Prior to joining the SMaRT Centre, she was a research fellow at Tohoku University in Japan followed by A*STAR in Singapore. Her research focus is in materials design for nanoelectronics and spintronics applications and calculation of materials properties from first-principle density functional theory. She has done extensive research on properties of carbon-based materials and her work in the area of electronic and magnetic properties of modified graphene structures has been highly cited since 2008. Narjes' research at the SMaRT Centre focuses on performing molecular dynamics simulation and first principle calculations. The aim is to investigate and predict the structural transformation of carbon-bearing materials at high temperature for the utilisation of waste plastics as a raw material.
